'Airfield Hanger' This school is located alongside the Avalon Airfield buildings which have been used to provide imagery for this hall. The hump-roofed shed of the school recalls the huge rolled roofs of the airport hanger buildings, and the aerodynamic wing shapes of the planes they contain. Big bow trusses of timber provide the structural means to span the hall space. Like most of the halls, brick walls are used outside up to door height to protect the building from damage, and inside walls are lined with MDF for the same reason. Here, plywood acoustic ceilings are used.
